Temper Temper
Coated Figs are dried figs, grown locally at Rosa Brook, dipped in a coat of milk or dark chocolate and sold by the 100g bag. The fig keeps its chew under the chocolate, so each piece is softer in the middle than a coated nut. The maker describes them as gluten free, with the dark chocolate variant vegan.
They come from Temper Temper, a chocolate shop on Bussell Highway in Cowaramup run by Roz and Georgia. Roz had already run a chocolate business in McLaren Vale, South Australia, before the pair studied chocolate-making together in Melbourne and opened the Margaret River region shop, where Georgia's six years as a professional chef shows up across the range.
Set a few out with cheese after dinner, or bring a bag to someone else's dinner as a thank-you gift.
